Going Pink – An Unexpected Update

I’ve previously stated that Fizik’s Vento Solocush Tacky was a nice handlebar tape. I take that back.

Simply put, the product was shit. It got dirty just by looking at it and it has quickly started flaking off in the points of contact. In no time, the tape started looking like it’s been used for years.

I’ve quickly replaced it with yet another pink tape, but this time I’ve gone for the model that has been proven for me in years of use, that Fizik has tried to make me think is not available anymore.

Everything you can read about Vento Solocush Tacky in reviews is true. It is fragile, marks easily and gets dirty beyond cleaning. And I did try to clean it – it’s impossible. My advice is:

Don’t buy Fizik’s Vento Solocush Tacky.

I now have Fizik’s Tempo Bondcush Classic tape. The same tape I’ve been using for years in black, on both road and gravel bicycles. I’ve got pink one again and guess what? It doesn’t even get dirty. After a few weeks of cycling in all weather conditions, it’s still spotless. Don’t believe me – take a look.

I just wish Fizik didn’t hide the older models that they still clearly sell. You have to specifically search for Bondcush to get the good stuff. If you have just browsed the menus, you will not find it. Too bad, because I’d not waste money and go for the trusted tape in the first place.
